Ella Mae Stowe
Gastonia-Mrs. Ella Mae Phillips Stowe, 79 of 1103 Gaston Avenue went home to be with the Lord January 26, 2011 at her residence. She was a native of Graham County, born September 18, 1931 to the late Bent and Minnie Lee Rollins Phillips.
Mrs. Stowe and her husband Bud was owner and operator of Stowe Florist for over 44 years. She was a pillar to the community. She was a charter member of Gaston Avenue Church of God, now Linwood Church of God. Her joy was working with the church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Ella Mae enjoyed fishing at the beach.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Herman Lee ' Bud' Stowe, Sr., and Rev. H.D. Sustar, her son, Herman 'Buddy' Stowe, Jr., a grandson, Eric Phillips and brothers, Willie, Roy, Clyde, Jack and H.B. Phillips
Survivors include her children, Mike Stowe and his wife Dr. Gail Stowe of Gastonia; Chris Stowe and wife Kerri of Gastonia, Debbie Stowe Propst and husband Mike of Gastonia; Tonya Phillips of Statesville;
One brother, Billy Phillips and wife Helen of Bessemer City, Sister, Lucille Morris and husband Bob of Newland, NC; Grandchildren: Deany and Jenny Phillips, Amy and Jesse Bowles, Sean Stowe and Devorah Marks, Jennifer and Ben Miller, Heather and Sean Ritch; great grandchildren, Drew and Jack Stowe, Deacon Bowles, Reese and Lane Miller
Celebration of life service will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Linwood Church of God with Rev. Randal E. Phillips, Rev. Michael White, Rev. Paul Collins, and Rev. Joe Heafner officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 800 PM, Friday, January 28 at the church.
Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, with the releasing of the doves.
Pallbearers will be Deany Phillips, Danny Ogle, Doug Ogle, Billy Phillips, Jimmy Phillips, Roy Phillips, Randy Phillips and Ronnie Stowe
