Gastonia- Ella Louise Barnes, 94, passed away July 9, 2009 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was a native of York, South Carolina, daughter of the late William E. and Zettie Glover Barnes. She was a life-long member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church where she participated in the WMU, Senior Citizens Group and Sunday School. She was retired from Robinson Elementary School where she worked in schools cafeteria, also working at Gastonia Weave Mill in her early years.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Edna Hinkle, and four brothers, James O. Barnes, William H. Barnes, Charles P. Barnes and Clarence E. Barnes.
She is survived by her brother Walter Ray Barnes and wife Phyllis of Gastonia, nieces and nephews, Karen Rogers, Cindy Barnes, Linda Seibert, Wanda Lee Haward, Nancy Hoffman, Margaret Capps, Ella Mae Hicks, Edward Hinkle,
Olene Lunsford, and Bobby Hinkle
a number of great, and great-great nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with the Rev. A.A. Bailey and Rev. Steve Hensley officiating.
The Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery
