Elaine Kanupp
1974-2018

Dallas – Elaine Paysour Kanupp, 44 joined her heavenly Father on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Robin Johnson House surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She was born in Cleveland County on July 21, 1974 to Sandra Paysour Wright and the late George Theodore Paysour, Jr.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Della Short, Paul and Pauline Short and George Paysour.

Elaine was a graduate of Crest High School and worked many years in the legal community as a legal secretary in Gaston County. Most recently, she had worked as a clerk for the Gaston County Sheriff's Department. Elaine enjoyed working for the Sheriff's Department and formed many special friendships with her co-workers. Elaine loved her family; especially the pride and joys of her life, her children; Camden and McKenzie! She had a contagious smile that could light up a room. Elaine's perseverance and inner strength, was indescribable as she continued to fight her battle of cancer that would crush many of us. In this way, she was a hero – who also kept on going, day after day, through the best times and through the hardest times always with a smile on her face. Elaine did not lose her battle with cancer; she lived graciously and courageously with it until the very end. She meant so much to everyone in her family as well as in the community. Elaine truly left a wonderful mark on everybody if you were blessed to call her your friend or family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!
Left to cherish her memories includes her loving and devoted husband, Matthew Kanupp; children, Camden Kanupp and McKenzie Frietch and her special friend, Jarrett Overstreet; her mother, Sandra "Sandi" Wright and husband Steve; mother and father-in-law, Linda and Reverend Paul Kanupp;
brother, George Theodore "Trey" Paysour, III (Amanda) and their children, Lexi Paysour and Caleb and Kelsey Ledbetter; sister, Nicole Holland (David); brother-in-law, Jeff Kanupp (Clara) and their daughter Kayla; paternal grandmother, Earsie Wood; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved dearly; also survived by her extended family by love that she considered her own, the Beaty and Bishop families;
special friends, Angel Chambers, Cathy Kiser and Susan Taylor; and her beloved fur baby Chloe.

Family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Levine's Cancer Institute, Dr. Hwang, Lynette, Jasmine, Joanna and Angie; staff of CMC-Lincoln and staff of Robin Johnson for the care and compassion provided to Elaine through her journey.
