Dallas – Nellie Edwina Tucker Godwin, 69, joined her Heavenly Father on February 23, 2022, at Atrium Health. She was born in Gaston County on July 30, 1952, to the late James B. and Lucille Ramsey Tucker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Godwin.
Edwina was a member of Bessemer City Community Church. Edwina was the most loving and compassionate soul who never met a stranger and adored her family. She was blessed with many friends during her life whom she considered being her extended family. Edwina was a well-known beautician in the community where she owned and operated "Edwina's Beauty Shop" for over 30 years providing services to her faithful customers. She enjoyed crocheting and was quite the animal lover. Edwina took great pride in being a "Maw Maw" to her grandchildren. She was the most loving wife, mother, Maw Maw, Sister, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her wonderful family, her loving husband of 52 years, Gene Kelly Godwin; son, Gene Kelly Godwin, Jr., and wife, Barbara; her precious grandchildren, Dylan and Kelly Elaina Godwin; brother, James B. Tucker, Jr., and sister, Glenda Mason; too many friends to mention that she loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 1st at Bessemer City Community Church, 616 Athenia Place, Bessemer City, NC 28016. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be private.
Due to the Covid outbreak, if you feel the need to stay home, a card or phone call to the family will be appreciated.
