Gastonia-Edith Mays Evans, 98, 2417 Woodbridge Drive, went home to be with the Lord December 1, 2010 at her residence.
She was a native of Wise County, VA, born May 6, 1912
to the late Charles Wesley and Laura Jane Reed Mays
Mrs. Evans was a homemaker, a member of Union Road Church of God, former Sunday School teacher for over 30 years, and faithfully attended Monday evening prayer services. She was dedicated to her church and loved serving the Lord. She was loved by all who met her and blessed by her spirit and joyful heart. She enjoyed quilting, making dolls and traveling with her family.
Ms. Evans will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She enjoyed
She was preceded in death by parents, her husband Edward Jackson Evans, Sr., a son, David Jackson Evans ,a daughter, Margaret Evans Cox and a great grandson Brandon Ewart; Eight siblings
Survivors include her children: Gary Clayton Evans of York, SC,
Edward Jackson Evans, Jr and wife Mona Rae of York, SC,
Shirley E Litchfield of Gastonia, Janice E Litchfield of Savannah, GA;
Sixteen Grandchildren, Thirty Three Great Grandchildren and
Twenty Great Great Grandchildren
A Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lane Lavendar, Rev. Wesley Weatherford and Rev. James Scott officiating
The family will receive friends 6:00 until 8:00 Friday, at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
