GASTONIA – Edith Waters Beaty, 92, went to be with the Lord on August 28th at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Macon County, North Carolina. She was born September 26, 1924, to the late Doc and Nina Belle Teague Waters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, George Neal Beaty; her sons, Danny and Randy Beaty and a granddaughter, Carolyn Jordan; brother and sisters, Buster Waters, Marie Truett, Jo Bishop, Jane Pendergrass and Betty Hoffman.
Edith was always a gracious southern lady who treated everyone with respect. She placed her trust in God and embraced life to the fullest. Her greatest accomplishment was her children! She was so proud of them and their families. Edith had an inquiring mind. She always had a positive outlook on life; she never said a cross word about anyone. She would often lend her listening ear no matter what the situation was and be supportive in the time of need. Edith was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who loved her! She was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church since 1946, where she taught children's Sunday school for many years.
Survivors include her children, Bobby Beaty and wife Linda of Belmont; Patsy Jordan and husband Mike; Timothy Beaty and wife Debbie; daughter in laws, Barbara Beaty and Martha Harrison all of Gastonia; grandchildren, Beverly, Mike, Mandy, Jennifer, Tracy, Brandon and April, 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Hoover Waters
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31st at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Richard Brown and Reverend Jeremy Burrell officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with the Releasing of the Doves.
Pallbearers will be Mike Beaty, Brandon Beaty, Zach Tewell, Chris Small, Terry Hoffman and Eric Truett.
Memorials may be made to Sandy Plains Baptist Church, c/o Building Fund, 5323 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28056.
