Edgar H. Herms

Gastonia-Edgar Henderson Herms, went to his heavenly home at the age of 95 at Belaire Health Care Center on March 15, 2010.
He was a native of Gaston County, born September 14, 1914 to the late William Henderson and Molly Cloninger Herms. He was retired from Rex Mill #1 with over 40 yrs. service. He was the oldest lifelong member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 yrs., Dixie Hampton Herms, son, Eugene Herms; son-in-law, Gerald W Glaze, grandson, Gerald William Glaze, Jr, Four brothers and two sisters
Survivors include his three daughters: Evelene Burke and husband J.D.; Frances Glaze, Naomi Lemley and husband Bobby, and a daughter-in-law: Freida Roberts; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren
Brother, Wesley Herms and wife Betty; sister, Pearl Lunsford
Family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 pm Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Bethlehem Church Family Life Center, 575 Separk Circle, (beside CarMax)
with Rev. Dickie Spargo and Rev. Dale Lawing officiating
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum D
Pallbearers: Brian Mason, Erick Maddy, Scott Lemley, Tim Herms, Todd Herms and Ronnie Herms; Honorary Pallbears: Danny Burke, Marc Sanford, Roger Calhoun, Gary Herms and Robbie Lemley
