GASTONIA - James Dwight Reeves, 87, entered into Heaven on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Dwight was born in Stratford, North Carolina on January 25, 1932 and was the son of the late Lawrence Earl and Fannie Atwood Reeves.

Dwight was the owner/operator of Reeves Machine Shop until his retirement. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Dwight loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dwight leaves behind, his daughter, Cynthia Reeves Machuga; son, Thomas Keith Reeves and wife Amy Turner Reeves; four grandchildren, Thomas Keith Reeves, Jr. and wife Jennifer Sims Reeves, Megan Machuga Christenbury and husband James Matthew Christenbury, Lawrence Turner Reeves and wife Lauren Hopper Reeves, Benjamin James Machuga; six great grandchildren, Thomas, James, Alice, Graeme, Turner, Ella; sister, Sue Petree.

The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Olney Presbyterian Church with Rev. Elizabeth Sigmon and Rev. Steven Weaver officiating.

Interment will follow in Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the North Carolina National Guard and the Gaston Honor Guard.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of over 50 years, Margaret Dixon Reeves; son-in-law, Stephen Machuga; brother, Ben Park Reeves.
