Gastonia-Charles Douglas Ballard, 68 of 2900 Union Rd., Gastonia went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 29, 2011.
He was a native of York County, born September 24, 1942 to the late Charlie and Emma Barnett Ballard.
Doug attended of Freewill Church of Jesus Christ and retired from textiles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Charles Kenneth (Kenny) Ballard , two sisters Mary 'Matt' and Linda Brown and a brother Jim Ballard
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Laura Evelyn Phillips Ballard;
his children Timothy Ballard, Kathy Annette McJunkins and Pamela Mauldin; a brother, Kenneth Ballard; Five grandchildren and Seven great grandchildren
Graveside service will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, June 1, 2011at V.A. National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC with Rev. Ted 'Pete' Cole, III officiating
Family will receive friends 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday, May 31,2011 at the funeral home 2011
