Dorothy "Dot" Green Carrigan

Dorothy “Dot” Green Carrigan, 89, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024. 

She was born in Swain County on May 18, 1935 to the late William Dennis Green and Floy Jane Shepherd Green. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arbrey Preston Carrigan who passed away in 2002; daughter, Caran Renea Carrigan; son, Christopher Lee Carrigan; sister, Jean Treadaway; and brother, William Mike Green. 

Dot worked in sales for Leon Schneider Department Store and American Greeting Cards for many years. Her true passion in life was spending time with her dear family who she loved above all else. She leaves many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Dot also enjoyed gardening, cooking, singing and Bible studies.

She is survived by her sons, Steven Carrigan (Lisa) and Scott Alan Carrigan; sister, JoAnn Huffstetler; granddaughter, Shannon Renea Clinton (Joey); and her great-grandson, Samuel Paul Clinton

Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Gaston Memorial Park, Singing Tower section with Pastor Wallace Tinsley officiating. The family will speak to guests following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
