Dorothy Williams Alwran
1920-2017
Stanley – Dorothy Williams "Dot" Alwran, 93 passed away peacefully on June 14, 2017 at Woodlawn Haven Assisted Living.
Dot was born in Gaston County, North Carolina on April 12, 1924 to the late James Pinkney Williams and Addie Elizabeth Lewis Williams.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law Darleen Alwran Webb and Jerry, a sister Kate Chaney.
Dot was a member of First Baptist Church, Stanley and loved her church. She enjoyed cooking, eating out and family dinners on Sunday. Dot liked to travel with her family and work in her yard. She and her husband were co-owners of Stanley Narrow Fabric's, Discwax Incorp., Royal Cordage and American Cord Twine.
She is survived by her husband of 77 years, Robert Lloyd Alwran, daughters Beverly A. Coleman and husband Joe, Sheila A Addington and husband Ken; grandchildren Leslie Long, Stacie Barber, Jeremy Webb, Dorothy Leigh Coleman, Victoria Lynn Coleman, Aaron Addington and Kathryn A Kirby; sister Norma Howell
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:15 p.m., Sunday, June 25th prior to the service at the First Baptist Church, Stanley.
A Celebration of Life service will be 3:30 p.m., Sunday, June 25th at the First Baptist Church, 409 Old Mt. Holly Road, Stanley with Reverend Dr. Tony Fulbright officiating.
Interment will be at Hillcrest Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Webb, Aaron Addington, Hank Long, Lynn Coleman, Tim Chaney and Kyle Newton.
