Gastonia – Doris Baker Walker, 77 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 23, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was born in Dandridge, Tennessee on June 3, 1941 to the late Clarence and Minnie Brown Baker. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Walker, sister, Rosa Bumgardner and brothers, Jerry and Ronnie Baker.
Doris was an active member of Grace Baptist Church. She enjoyed trips to the beach, spending time with family, singing and cooking.
The impact of her life is a loving legacy to all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memories includes her husband of 56 years, Bill Walker; her sons Doug Hargrove (Tess) and Jerry Walker (Lisa); her wonderful grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Christopher and Ethan; great grandchildren, Logan Walker and Logan Hargrove; sisters, Faye Foster and Patricia Reece; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church, 2200 Auten Road, Gastonia
A Celebration of Life service will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Hicks and Reverend David MacEachern officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, John 1 section with the releasing of the doves
Pallbearers will be Men of Grace
