Donna Kaye Buchanan Nichols

Donna Buchanan Nichols, age 63 peacefully transitioned on December 23, 2024 surrounded by her family at Caromont Regional Hospital in Gastonia, NC. 

She was born October 17, 1961 to Kathleen & James Buchanan. Donna was a graduate of Gaston College and served as an executive assistant at Gaston Memorial Hospital before becoming a wife, mother, and homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her mother Kathleen Cathey Buchanan and her sister Connie Marlowe.

 Survivors include; her husband, Johnnie Earl Nichols; son, John James Alexander “Nick” Nichols, daughters; Kelly & Heather Nichols; father, James “ Buck” Buchanan and step mother MaryBeth Buchanan; cousin and best friend Sherry Karcher; brothers, David and John Buchanan; sister-in-law, Punan Buchanan; niece Hannah Musselwhite; nephew Brian Buchanan; step brothers Paul and Robert Jenkins.

 Donna was the matriarch and unifier of her entire family. She spread kindness and love in all that she was in life. Even in death, Donna was selfless as she saved 2 lives as an organ donor.  

Donna loved her family and spent many family vacations on Sanibel Island, her happy place. She hosted family dinners, cook outs, birthday parties, and much more at her and Johnnie’s home over the years. She will dearly miss by all that were graced to know her.

Graveside service will be 11:30 am, Sunday, December 29th, 2024 at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Section Chimes 4A, 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Hwy., Mt. Holly, NC 28120
