Gastonia- Donald Gaston White, 83 went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 14, 2016 at the Robin Johnson House.
He was born in Cherokee County, South Carolina on March 2, 1933 to the late Dennis Buette White and Zelma Blalock White.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Wendell White and sister Margie Turner.
Don was a graduate of Grover High School. Don was a member of Maranatha Temple Church of God, where he was a Deacon and sang in the choir. He was retired Master Sergeant in U.S. Air Force. Don retired from the Postal Service. In his youth he was a great pitcher and later pitched in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed Photography and love to travel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21years, Shirley Williams White, daughter Michelle White(JoAnn Smith); sons Robert (Kim) Standridge, Larry (Leah) Standridge; grandchildren, Leah Brennan, Robyn Rohrl, Peyton, James, Nicholas, Katherine Standridge; great grandchildren, Alexis, Noah, Taylor, Lily and Kylie; brother Leary White; sister-in-laws Marjorie Falls and Judy White, aunt Louise Kale; mother-in-law Robert Williams.. Several nieces and nephews
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, May 18th from 2:00 – 3:00 pm at Maranatha Temple Church of God, 2435 Redbud Drive, Gastonia, NC 28056
A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 pm, Wednesday, May 18th at Maranatha Temple Church of God with Pastor Jeremy Burrell officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen A Quiet Place with Military Honors by U S Air Force Funeral Honors Team.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Maranatha Temple Church of God, 2435 Redbud Drive, Gastonia, NC 28056 and Robin Johnson House c/o Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
