Donald K. Lewis

Gastonia ' Donald K Lewis, 76 went to his Heavenly Home July 16, 2012.

He was a native of Gaston County, born January 25, 1936 to the late J. Fred and Lela Lewis
He was preceded in death by his Parents, his beloved grandson Matthew Chase Lewis; brothers Dr James Lewis and Jack Lewis, father-in-law, William Thomas Shields, brother-in-law Robert VanAntwerp and good friend Gerald Poarch
Don attended and played baseball for the University of North Carolina, he also played for the Chicago White Sox Organization. He finished his last year of college and graduated from Belmont Abbey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Don was Traffic manager and retired from Wix Corp. He was a member of the N.C. Traffic and Transportation Club., and was recipient of the Traffic Club Manager of the year.
Don enjoyed golf, the Atlanta Braves, the N.C. Tarheel's basketball games.
He loved watching his grandson Chase play basketball and baseball.
Don's family was all important to him. He was dearly loved and will always be missed by his family.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Judy Shields Lewis, his son, Todd Shelby Lewis and wife Sherry P Lewis; his grandchildren, Lauren Marie Lewis, Chad Bartlett and wife Amanda, Cory Bartlett and wife Catherine; great grandchildren, Hallie, Luke and Jacob Bartlett.; mother-in-law, Pauline Deaton Shields, sister-in-law Sue Holder Lewis, Evelyn Lytton Lewis and Becky Shields VanAntwerp. Brothers-in-law Ralph Shields and wife Sheila, David Shields and wife Brooksie; niece, Susan Lewis Turner and family, nephews and families Brent Shields, Brian Shields, David Shields, Rev. Scott Shields, Scott Lewis, Ricky Jordan and Thomas VanAntwerp. Good friend Marie Poarch
Graveside service will be 1:00pm Tuesday at Gaston Memorial Park with Rev. Scott Shields officiating
