Gastonia – David Stephen Jones, Jr., 53, passed away on November 18, 2017.
He was born in Gaston County on December 17, 1963 to Brenda Wellman Jones and the late David Stephen Jones. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marshall and Pearl Wellman, Love and Hattie Jones, uncles, Richard Wellman, Harrill Jones and Edney Jones.
Stephen was a graduate of Ashbrook High School; and he attended Belmont Abbey and Gaston College. Stephen was a lifelong member of East Baptist Church, where he was also a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, his class he taught collected for the Christmas Feast.
Stephen received his Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts, Loray Troop 9 in 1981, his project was Shiloh Cemetery (Beside East Baptist Church). He was a member of the King Solomon Masonic Lodge #704. He retired as Supervisor at Wix Filters with over 21 years of dedicated services.
Left to cherish his memories includes the love of his life Kim Elmore and her children, Emily, Rob and Josh (Alyson) Elmore; his mother Brenda W Jones; his sisters Penelope (Zach) Stroupe and Susan (Jeffrey) Jordan;
nieces, Grace and Katy Stroupe and nephew, Ben Jordan.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12 Noon Wednesday, November 22 at East Baptist Church with a Celebration of life service to follow at 12 Noon at East Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Winecoff officiating.
Interment will be Private at Hollywood Cemetery with Masonic rites by King Solomon Masonic Lodge #704.
Pallbearers will be Zach Stroupe, Jeffrey Jordan, Brian Riley, Josh Elmore, Rob Elmore, Todd Long, Todd Dover, Jimmy Roach, David McSwain, Scott Caldwell and Scott Young
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America Piedmont Council, 1222 East Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28054 or Christmas Feast c/o East Baptist Church, 114 West Church Street, Gastonia, NC 28054
