Gastonia - David Lee Hunsucker, 86 of Gastonia passed away peacefully Sunday January 27, 2012 at his residence.
He was a native of Cabarrus County, born August 20, 1926 to the late John David Hunsucker and Clidie Mae Keller Hunsucker Cauble.
David was a member of the Lutheran Chapel Church and a US Army veteran. He was also on the Historical work Committee of NC Lutheran Syned. He was a member of the NC Retired School Personnel, AHOY Seniors Exercise Class, Chapter #2070 AARP Nursing Home committee, Gaston County Library Committee, First Presbyterian Church College, University Alumni Associations and Library Professional Associations, BETA PHI MU (honorary Library Science Fraternity), Grier Junior High School Teacher and Librarian at Ashley Senior High School, he had a A.B. Degree from Lenior – Rhyne College and a M.A degree from Appalachian State University, and a M.S. degree in L.S. – University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. State Supervisor of School Libraries, Department of Public Instruction, Raleigh, Librarian Director and Dean at Gaston College library and Media Center. He was a member of NC Community College Leaning Resources Association, NC Library Association, Southeastern Library Association, American Library Association, Beta Phi Mu and National Honorary Library fraternity.
Survivors include his special friends Timothy D Toms of Gastonia and Bonita King of Dallas, NC; a half brother Ralph Cauble of China Grove
His church family and many friends in Gaston and Alleghany counties
Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service in the Chapel
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, at Lutheran Chapel Church with Rev. Michael Comer
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
