He is survived by his wife, Gloria Wilkinson Gates, his children, Richard Lee (Laurie) Gates, Elizabeth (Christopher) Cochran, step children, Darla and Nikki Lambert; grandchildren, Katie, Kasey, Courtney, Kenny, Bethany, Jaylen, Jakayla, Maliyah and Airiana; brother Wayne Albert Gates; sister, Debra Gates (Paul) Swayney.
