David Edgar "Beno" Benoy

Gastonia, David Edgar "Beno" Benoy, 76 of Gastonia, passed away October 29, 2013 at the Robin Johnson House with his loving family by his side. He had fought a year long battle with lung cancer.
He was born December 1, 1936 to the late William T. Benoy and Minnie Propst Benoy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, David Edgar Benoy, Jr. and sister, Rosetta Leatherman and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Peggy Hampton Benoy ; his daughter, Debbie Benoy Barnhill and husband Tommy
Grandchildren, Ashley C. Benoy, Thomas C. Barnhill, II, Davis L. Barnhill and Nicholas A. Barnhill;
Brother, Richard E. Benoy and wife Ruth
Sister, MaryJane Bland Fortner and husband Frank
Numerous nieces and nephews

David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, graduate of Gaston College and retired from Burlington & Salem Trucking Company. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a dear friend to so many. He attended South Gastonia Church of God.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Friday, November 1, 2013 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation Service
With a Celebration of Life Service 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013, at South Gastonia Church of God with Rev. Bobby Gilley and Rev. Sam Barnette, officiating. Interment will be at Stanley Cemetery, Stanley, NC.
