Gastonia – Darcel Ewing Walker, 61, passed away on April 20, 2017 surrounded by her family at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 27, 1956 in Mecklenburg County to the late Price M. Ewing, Jr. and Eva Reep Ewing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandparents, Rosa and Price M. Ewing Sr. and Clarence and Lula Reep and her beloved furbaby,Wally.
Darcel was a member of First United Methodist Church and graduated from Gaston Day School and St. Andrews University. She was employed by the Gaston County Tax Office as a Business Tax Accessor. Darcel enjoyed shopping, the beach and spending time with family. She was a very strong willed person; she courageously battled diabetes since the age of 2. The doctors were amazed by how her determination to fight remained strong while battling health issues that resulted from diabetes. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her!
Left to cherish her memories include her loving husband of 20 years, Arnold Walker; step son, Marshall P. Walker and wife Lauren; brother, Martin "Marty" Ewing and wife Linda; brother-in-law, Larry Walker and wife Colette; sister-in-law, Nancy Walker
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 23rd at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with A Celebration of Life service to be held at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.
Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park
Pallbearers will be Aubrey Hatfield, Charles Jones, Larry Walker, Wesley Walker, Steve Huffstetler and Doug Funderburk
