Daphne Byers

Daphne Hardin Byers of Belmont, N.C. passed away peacefully in her home, in the presence of her family, August 16, 2018 after fighting a lengthy illness.

A native of Belmont she was the eldest daughter of Cicero and Grace Burgin Hardin.
She was a long time member of Goshen Presbyterian Church where she served as an officer in the Women of the Church organization, Circle leader and Youth Ministry. She was a past president of North Belmont Elementary PTA, where she led the effort to accredidate the school through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. She retired from Custom Industries in Belmont, where she was the company's only female sales representative, and where she made many friends.

Daphne was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Bill, Robert, and Charles Hardin and her sisters Vickie Hardin Walker, Peggy Hardin, Joyce Hardin and her nephew, Tony Hardin.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years Dewey E. Byers, children Tracy and Jeff Byers, her sister Frances Hardin Patty, aunt Betty Burgin Queen, numerous nieces, nephews, in laws, and family friends who will mourn the passing of this special lady, but who rejoice in her resurrection to a new life through her Lord and Savior.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 19th prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 p.m., Sunday at Goshen Presbyterian Church with Reverend James Almond officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with the releasing of the doves.

Pallbearers will be Steve Mercer, Kyle Patty, Chris Hardin, Trent Byers, Mike Gange, Gene Monroe, Greg Farmer and Chip Wilson
