Daniel "Dan" Charles Britton

Dan passed away peacefully at his residence in Dallas, NC on November 22 with his family by his side at the age of 77. He was an identical triplet and was born alongside his brothers Don and Dale in Suffolk, VA on October 30, 1947, a son to the late B.W. and Katherine Willis Britton.

He was a 1966 graduate of Dallas High School and a US Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War on the USS Gridley. He started his career at Duke Energy in 1976 where he worked for 37 years before retiring in 2013 as supervisor in Radiation Protection. As a devout Christian, he was a member of Dallas Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and an active member of the Methodist Men. He served many years as a Boy Scout leader for Troop 28 in Dallas. Dan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Melanie Price Britton, his son Daniel Charles Britton Jr,  his daughter Katie Elizabeth Britton (Robby Arn), his brothers Don Britton (Pris), Dale Britton, and his sister Judy Hovis (Blair) as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends. In addition to his parents, Benjamin Washington Britton and Katherine Willis Britton, Dan was preceded in death by his son Justin Craig Britton, who passed 11-22-2013, his brother Benny Britton, his sister Gloria Britton, and his best friend and K-9 companion Brinkley. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00pm at Dallas Methodist Church on Monday, November 25, 2024. A funeral service will be the held at Dallas Methodist Church on November 26, at 2:00 pm with Reverends Josh Britton and Caroll Flack officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Garden Cemetery with Military honors by the U.S. Navy and the Gaston County Honor Guard.. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in memory of Dan Britton to Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home to help cover funeral expenses.
