Gastonia– Daisy Stewart, 78, went Home to be with the Lord on December 9, 2015 at Mission Hospital.
She was born in Gaston County, NC on January 12, 1937 to the late C.H. and Ruby Bentley Sparks
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed greatly! She loved spending time with her family and grandkids. Daisy loved her trips to the beach with her family; especially her outings playing putt-putt! Daisy retired from nursing with over 35 years at the hospital. She loved knitting, crocheting, fishing, gardening and cooking. She made the best giblet gravy! Daisy always looked forward to the holidays spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Ray Stewart who passed away on November 8, 2015; daughter, Sandra Stewart Lunsford, son Henry Randall Stewart, grandchildren Shiloh and Sierra Stewart; brother John Marion Sparks and a sister Vivian S. Ellison.
Left to cherish her memories includes daughters, Susan Fowler and husband Walter; Cathy Derreberry and husband Danny; son, Rick Stewart and wife Crystal; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; Sisters, Lorene S. Jones, Hermie S. Ellison and Diane S. Davey
A Celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 12th at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Roger Derreberry officiating
Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Singing Tower IV with the releasing of the dove
Memorials may be made to Green Valley Baptist Church, 3937 Smokey Creek Road, Lenior, NC 28645
