Corene Morris Petty

Gastonia- Corene Morris Petty, 88 of Gastonia passed away peacefully October 24, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.
Corene was born November 16, 1924, the youngest child of the late George S. and Catherine Reese Morris of the Center community of Toombs County, Georgia..
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, John L. Petty of Petty's Landscaping; four sisters; Attis Ansley, Ellene Nesmith, Nellie Wilkins, Mary Jane Dyches; two brothers; Leon and Fred Morris.
Mrs. Petty was retired from Firestone Mills where she started work during
World War II and where she met her husband. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church for over 50 years where she was very active until failing health prevented her from attending.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, all of Gastonia;
Linda Payseur and husband David L; and sons Gregg Petty and wife Bennie, and Wendel Petty and special friend Anna Reeves.
Grandchildren, Eric Payseur, Leander Petty, Erin Payseur and Zane Petty. Step-grandchildren; Randy and David Humphries and Dwayne Clark. Eight great grandchildren; Ian, Reese, Auburn, Isla, Max, Edan, Ada Petty and Mateusz Payseur; a sister-in-law Joan Petty; also may nephews and nieces, whom she loved dearly.
Celebration of Life services will be 11:00am Saturday at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Ballard officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 10:30 am Saturday at Temple Baptist Church
Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery with the Releasing of the Doves.
