Gastonia - Conroe Dowell, Jr., 55, of Gastonia, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Testa Family Hospice House, Kings Mountain with his loving family by his side. Conroe was born in Gastonia and is the son of Peggy Childers Dowell and Conroe Dowell, Sr.
Conroe was a graduate of Ashbrook High School and was a former employee of Winn-Dixie at Akers Center.
Conroe is survived by his mother, Peggy Childers Dowell of Gastonia; father, Conroe Dowell, Sr. and wife Carolyn of Gastonia; sister, Robin Lanham and husband Don of Charlotte; brother, Michael "Tony" Dowell of Gastonia; niece, Lauren Lanham; nephew, Jonah Dowell.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with the Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 12th in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremiah Childers and Rev. Jeremy Burrell officiating.
Private interment for the family will be at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Conroe was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. A. V. Childers; paternal grandparents, Minnie and Will Dowell.
