Gastonia – Claude Scoggins, 81, joined our heavenly Father peacefully on September 29, 2016 at Peak Resources Cherryville with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Polk County on October 25, 1934 to the late Horace and Viola Pack Scoggins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Sheppard Scoggins.

Claude was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church and was very involved with the Brotherhood of the church. He always enjoyed looking forward to the sunrise services at Easter. He worked for Duke Power as a Transmission Lineman and retired after many years of dedicated service. Claude was a family man he loved spending time with them and adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening where he shared and delivered his harvest to everyone! Claude loved old cars and watching hummingbirds and Purple Martins. He was a loving and caring father and grandfather that will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him!

Left to cherish his memories include his daughters Claudette Lanning and Tina Emeory; grandchildren, Brandon Psomadakis (Courtney), Kyle Hart, Victoria Hart, Zach Lanning (Lauren), Ashlee Warren and Bailey Stewart;
great-grandchildren, Michael Inman, Chase Lanning, Jade, Olivia, and Ava Oglesby;
brother, Arthur Scoggins (Corine) and sisters, Mary Belue (Delmer) and Mallie Yelton;
mother of the children, Margaret Lambert

Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 1st from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Sandy Plains Baptist Church.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 1st at 2:00 p.m. at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with Reverend Richard Brown officiating.

Pallbearers will be Benny Capps, Ray Robinson, Tommy Hoffman, Bill Nolen, Frankie Capps and Larry Lamb

Interment will follow in the Sandy Plains Baptist Church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, Post Office Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
