Stanley- Charles "Charlie" Edward "Eddie" Simmons, 64 passed away on March 28th at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He fought a good fight with lung and brain cancer.
On March 28, 2016, he won the final battle and is now home with his dear Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ. He spent his last days in his home with his loving family as his caretakers.
Eddie served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was an active member of Community Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Trustee and Sunday School Teacher. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Eddie was very interested and enjoyed everything about history. Eddie worked at T & W Textile Machinery for over 25 years and also worked for Hoover Machine for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Janice Ackerman Simmons, his children Chuck Simmons and wife Wendy, Chad, Craig and Bryan Simmons, Micky Taylor and wife Paula, Marty Taylor and wife Kelly; his parents Reverend Roland Simmons and Stella Goad Simmons; grandchildren Seth, Beth, Brooke, Emily, Ashley, Kenlee, Noah, Molly, and Kendal. A great grandson Keaton; a sister Sharon and husband Greg Stowe, brother David and wife Cheryl Simmons, and sister-in-law Emily Simmons.
He is preceded in death by his brother Sanford Simmons and son Michael Taylor.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, March 30th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Community Baptist Church, 823 Dallas Stanley Highway, Dallas, NC
Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 31st at 3:00 p.m. at Community Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Seagle officiating
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens, Cherry 4 section with Military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard
