Belmont – Charles Earl Pettit, 87, went Home to be with the Lord on November 23, 2015 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Greenville, SC on May 25, 1928 to the late Earl Sullivan Pettit and Leila Mae White Pettit.

Charles was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed greatly. Charles was a US Navy Veteran serving on the USS North Carolina (BB55) during World War II. Charles retired from BeauKnit and Firestone Mill. He was a lifelong member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, and a member of the Young at Heart Club. Charles was an avid golfer with the Lunch Bunch group for over 40 years. He also loved working with wood and gardening. Most of all he loved spending time at his beach house on Oak Island with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Jerry and Harold Pettit, and a son-in-law George W. Peach.

Left to cherish his memories includes his wife Maxine Wright Pettit; a daughter Vicki Pettit Peach; grandsons Michael Muscat and wife Ginger, Chris Peach and wife Casey; great grandchildren Silas Charles Muscat and Gabriel Spain Muscat; sister Barbara Robinson.

A Celebration of life service will be held 11:00 am Friday, November 27th at Woodlawn Baptist Church with Reverend David Clippard and Reverend Josh McCall officiating with military honors to follow by the Gaston County Honor Guard

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service

Interment will be private for the family

Memorials may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church Building Fund, 1101 N. Main Street, Lowell, NC 28098
