Gastonia – Charles Rodney Overman, Sr., 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in Gaston County on February 19, 1946, to the late Jack Overman, Sr. and Lillie Buckner Overman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Jean Overman, and a brother, Vick Overman.
Rodney graduated High School and went to work for Craig Dodge for 20 years. After leaving Craig Dodge he went to work for Freightliner, Mt. Holly Plant, where he worked for 28+years before retiring. Rodney always thought of others; what you saw is what you got. He never met a stranger; he would talk to everybody he encountered. Rodney loved to tell jokes at any opportunity he could.
