Gastonia - Charles Edward Barnes, Jr., 46 passed away suddenly on June 10, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
Charles was born on November 6, 1969 in Lancaster County, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee Lester McAfee and Azi Lee McAfee. Charles played football for Gardner Webb University for 4 years, where he made many wonderful friends. Charles worked for Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company for over 19 years. He enjoyed weight Lifting, but most of all he was a family man!

Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Tracey Bryson Barnes, their children Nathan Bryson, Ashley Barnes, Nicholas Barnes and Desmond Barnes; grandson Cameron Barnes; his father Charles Edward Barnes, Sr. and his mother Christine McAfee Barnes, both of Lancaster, SC; grandmother Juanita Barnes; sister Tonka Barnes, half sisters Hope Coffey and Trina Johnson; mother and father in law, Sid and Ava Bryson of Shelby, Sherry and Charles Jackson of Mooresboro

The family and friends will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service with A Celebration of Life service to be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel With Reverend Mondray Stevenson and Mr. Woody Fish officiating. Interment will be private

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to be made to the children's education fund (Tracey Barnes) at BB&T, 3070 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28056
