Cathy Marie Hope

Gastonia – Cathy Marie Hope, 44, of Gastonia, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. She was a loving and loyal mother, daughter, sister, friend and Sisterchick. She is now in her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Cathy was born October 7, 1977 and was the youngest of five children. Cathy accomplished many things in her lifetime, but her favorite role was being a mom. She always said no matter what she achieved in her life, nothing would ever compare to being Katie's mommy.

Cathy graduated from North Gaston High School and went on to study at Gaston College. She graduated with a degree in Basic Law Enforcement Training. While in college she served as the Class President. For over 10 years Cathy served as a Deputy Sheriff for the Mecklenburg County Sherriff's Office. She earned numerous awards, accolades and titles. These included earning the Medal of Valor, Employee of the Month, seven awards for outstanding performance, she served as an Explorer Advisor and was a certified instructor. She also studied Federal Emergency Management where she earned multiple certifications.

In 2019, Cathy graduated from Gaston College with an Associate Degree in Paralegal Technology.

Cathy was creative and enjoyed making crafts for family and friends. She spent a lot of time in the kitchen baking favorite recipes, especially ones that had been passed down through generations of family members. Traditions and making memories were things she held dear. She once compiled a cookbook for everyone because it was important to her that these traditions continued. She loved crushed ice and had a special way of making it… If you know, you know. Cathy was a gifted singer and loved music. She was an avid reader and found it hard to put down a good book. Cathy was as beautiful and vibrant as the butterflies she collected. Cathy always treasured the personal, meaningful and sentimental things in life.

Cathy enjoyed many Sisterchick adventures and loved traveling. As much as she loved to travel, she always loved coming home more. Above all, Cathy loved and valued family. She loved them with all that was in her and every conversation ended with, "I love you". She was a dedicated mother, daughter and faithful friend.

Family members left to cherish memories of Cathy are her daughter, Katie Davis, her parents Tom and Carol Hope, siblings Andy (Barbara) Hope, Cindy Hope, Sherry (Jesse) James, and Mary Ann Hope as well dozens of cousins, nieces', nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 25, 2022 from 12:30PM until 2:00PM at Love Memorial Baptist Church, 311 E. Walnut Ave., Gastonia, North Carolina 28054. The Celebration of Life for Cathy will follow at 2:00PM.
