Gastonia – Catherine "Cathy" England Strickland, 79 passed away peacefully on December 24, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
She was born in South Carolina on March 13, 1938 to the late Earl and Sarah Woods England. Cathy was one of thirteen children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hershal, Neil, J.P. and Ray England.
Cathy was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in the yard, cleaning house, painting, watching Walker Texas Ranger on television. Cathy loved to dance, listen to music and Elvis. She loved her family! She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memories includes her husband of 43 years, Terrill Strickland, her children; Cheryl Reeves; Joey Caskey (Winn); Misti Conner (Shane); and Kristi Strickland; 6 grandchildren; April and Christopher Reeves; Erin Caskey, Addison Bazemore, Andrea Conner and Jeremie Conner; 8 great grandchildren;
brothers and sisters, Bobby England and Jimmy England; Odell McLeod; Marjorie Huntsinger; Geraldine Conner; Martia Campbell; Betty Walker and Brenda Jones.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. prior to the Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, December 28th at 6:30 p.m., in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.
