Catherine Boggs Postell
Dallas- Catherine Rhyne Boggs Postell, 80 of 105 Colt Thornburg Road, went home to be with the Lord July 22, 2010.
She was a native of Gaston County, born August 31, 1929 to the Quince and Maude High Rhyne. She was a member of Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church.
Catherine lived on Cloninger Road her whole life. She had three children and three grandchildren but loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children as well. She retired from Sherman Textiles with over 30 years of service and enjoyed playing the piano and organ, listening to gospel music and spending time with her extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tommie F. Boggs, Sr and brothers Ralph, Bill, Jake, Lewis, Blair, Phillip and Carroll Rhyne.
Survivors include her children: Cathy Jenkins and husband Larry of Dallas, Rhonda Wray and husband Chuck of Gastonia, Tommy Boggs, Jr and wife Lisa of Dallas; her grandchildren: Eric Boggs and wife Kelly of Durham, Erin Boggs and fianc'` Daniel Bates of Buxton, Evan Boggs of Charlotte(currently serving in Afghanistan); sister Dorothy Hovis and husband Claude of Dallas, brother, Tom Rhyne of Statesville, numerous nieces and nephews, her special friend Cecil Jenkins and her beloved family who lived next door; Dennis, Viktoriya and Leeza Rhyne, Bill and Connie Rhyne and family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bill Aycock for his care of Catherine and the members of Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church and others who assisted her with transportation to and from dialysis treatments.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Saturday, July 24 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home
Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home in Gastonia and at other times at her home in Dallas.
A Celebration of Life service will be 3:00pm, Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Shaw and her nephew Pastor Mark Hovis . Her eldest grandson Eric Boggs will deliver the eulogy.
Interment will follow at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery
Pallbearers will be nephews, Joe, Ralph, Ronnie, Bill, Wayne, Bruce, Todd, Dennis and John Rhyne. Additional nephews will be honorary pallbearers.
