Iron Station – Catherine (Cathy) Louise Franklin, 54 went to see her Jesus and family members that have gone on before her after a courageous 6 week battle with cancer on June 16, 2018 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas. Cathy was born in Charlotte on January 31, 1964 to the Late Girlie Armstrong Hager Ward.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her maternal grandparents; Leonard and Margaret Cannon Armstrong, Aunt Libby Allen, two uncles, Jerry and Ralph Armstrong; her father-in-law Arthur Franklin and her brother-in-law Bobby Franklin.
Cathy had a strong faith in God and didn't hesitate to ask everyone who took care of her if they knew Jesus. She was loved by all the nurses at CMC and RJH and our family made many friends with these wonderful people. A special thank you to the nurses at both places who took such good care of her. We will love you forever. Cathy was married to the number one Love of her life; Richard A. Franklin for 31 years. Left behind to cherish her memories are her husband Richard, number two love of her life; son Cameron Franklin, one sister Michelle (Mark) Thomas from Wilmington NC. Four Aunts; Gaynell (Mack) Ottinger, Ruby (John) Ford from Stanley; Brenda (Glenn) Roberts from Belmont, Kay (William) Lanier from Gastonia; her mother-in-law, Lyna Franklin from Gastonia. Cathy is also survived by 24 first cousins, seven nieces and nephews and many friends from the Lynn Jonas Farm where the third love of her life was boarded, her horse Riley.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m., Saturday, June 23rd at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. A Celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel with Reverend Mike Criswell officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens, Mt. Holly
Pallbearers will be Cliff Armstrong, Jimmy Lanier, Mike Roberts, Bryan Simmons,
Kenny Ottinger and Todd Ford
