Gastonia – Jean Carolyn Cunningham Ivester, 81, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2016 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Gaston County, born December 1, 1934, daughter of the late Geneva Kiser and Robert Cunningham.
Carolyn was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will be greatly missed! She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Gastonia where she was active in many roles throughout the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Andre Ivester and son, Hoyt A. "Sonny" Ivester, Jr.
Left to cherish her memories include her children, Jeanne Carol Sigmon (Rickey); Katherine Yvonne Sturgill (John); Harold Dean Ivester (Tammy) and Stephen Dale Ivester (Linda);
13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren;
brother, Donald Cunningham (Geneva); sisters, Frances Ford (Clifford) and Juanita McGraw.
Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday, January 26th 12:00 noon at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Braxton C. East officiating.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park with the releasing of the doves.
