Gastonia, Carolyn Gail Thomas Haney, 74 of 840 West Garrison Blvd, passed away at home on July 17, 2014.
She was born in Columbia, SC on October 14, 1939 to the late Lawrence Emanuel and Edna Stacey Thomas.
She was a member of Firestone Weslyan Church and a graduate of Ashley High School Class of 1959 and retired from Homelite. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friends to many.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 29 years, Walter "Gene" Haney, and her sister, Barbara Kay Thomas.

She is survived by her son, Lawrence Haney of Gastonia, NC; daughters, Teresa Haney Abedrabbo and Charles J. Reading of Blacksburg, SC; Crystal Haney Costner and husband Danny of Clover; Angela Haney Skidmore and husband, Tim of Gastonia; Grandchildren, Matt Costner of Clover, SC, Toscha Leonhardt, Haley and Mallory Skidmore all of Gastonia; Great Grandchildren, Chelsey and Caleb Costner of Clover, SC, K'la Leonhardt, Katelyn Wooten, Dillard Winstead all of Dallas, NC; Five sister-in-laws and three brother-in-laws.

Visitation will be 6:30 – 8:30 pm on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

A Celebration of Life service will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 20th at Firestone Weslyan Church with Pastor Roger Parsons officiating. Pallbearers; Richard Lanier, Loin Ghorley, Charles Ghorley, Allen Petty, Peter Titus and Rodney Solesbee.

Interment will be at Hollwood Cemetery.
