Carol Vann Ramsey, 71 of 611 Honeywood Lane went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 14, 2011 in the company of her family.
A native of Johnston County NC, she was the daughter of the late Adron Christopher Vann and Victoria Starling Vann.
After graduation Mrs. Ramsey went on to work in the register of deeds for Johnston County and later in the clerk's office for the town of Dallas before taking on her greatest role in life as a wife and loving mother of four. Carol was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy where she cherished working with the sick and elderly. She was an active member in the church working in missions and playing the piano and organ. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all she met.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Edgar Truman Ramsey; one daughter, Marcia Ramsey Davis and husband Darren of Ridgeland SC; three sons, David Ramsey of Dallas NC, Tim Ramsey and wife Kristi of Kannapolis NC, Stephen Ramsey and wife Lori of Wesley Chapel NC; Seven Grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, Amy, Allison, David, Jr., Tyler and Connor and Four Great Grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her stepmother Elizabeth Starling Vann, brother Carl Vernon Vann and sister Margaret Lee Vann.
The family will receive friends on Monday night between 6 :00 and 8:00pm at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home in Gastonia.
Following a private family service Mrs Ramsey will be laid to rest at Long Creek Baptist Cemetery in Dallas, NC at 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 18 with Reverend Randal Phillips officiating
