Bessemer City - Carmel Dean Ledford, 76, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Brian Center of Gastonia. He was born in Shoal Creek, North Carolina and was the son of the late Eulan and Grace Brewster Ledford.
The family would like to express thankfulness to Brenda and Richard Lollis, Dean's sister-in-law and brother-in-law for the constant love, true friendship and devoted care of Dean and his wife Maxine in the final years of their lives.
Mr. Ledford was owner of Ledford Construction Company. He loved the mountains, singing, Gospel Blue Grass music, camping and his animals.
Mr. Ledford is survived by his granddaughter, Tina Massey and husband Scott of Rock Hill; great granddaughter, Tristen Massey; brother, Henry Gene Ledford and wife Kathryn; sister, Shirley McNichols; special sister-in-law, Brenda Lollis and husband Richard; Emogene Bell, who was like a sister to Dean; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Josh Fail officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves.
Mr. Ledford was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 56 years, Maxine Fine Ledford; daughter, Patricia Ann Spirlin; sister, Peggy Ledford Croft.
