Calvin C. Hart
1925 - 2020
Mt. Holly – Calvin Caldwell Hart, 95, passed away peacefully on December 17th at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Hart was born in Gaston County on February 21, 1925 to the late Marion and Cora Keller Hart.
Mr. Calvin Hart was a very active member of New Covenant United Methodist Church. He was a US Navy World War II Veteran and married the love of his life, Mayoris Rogers Hart and raised their children in Gaston County. After serving his country, he returned home and worked for Duke Power for over 35 dedicated years until he retired. After retiring from Duke Energy, he enjoyed working outdoors and caring for his garden where he provided much of his harvest to family, neighbors and friends. He spent many years frying fish and hosting benefits for his community with entertainment at his "Beloved Cabin" where he adored spending time fishing and bird watching. In 2009 Mr. Hart began a new journey on his "Bucket List" at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. He took great pride and joy in donating his wisdom, time and efforts in caring for families and assisting in many capacities at the funeral home for many years as a loyal and faithful employee. Mr. Hart was also known for being the "Unofficial Mayor of the Riverbend Township". He was known by so many and loved by all!
Left to cherish his memories is his beloved wife of almost 77 years, Mrs. Mayoris Roger Hart; daughters, Brenda McConnell (Thomas); Frances Williams and Anita Hallman (Rickey); grandchildren, David McConnell, Mary Catherine McConnell, Mark McConnell, Margaret Ann McConnell and Anna Harris; great-grandchildren, Ella McConnell, Sophia McConnell, Aedan McConnell, Cecilia Alicea, Allie Harris, and Brooks Harris; many extended family members and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., Saturday, December 19th at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 14514 Lucia Riverbend Parkway, Mt. Holly, NC and the Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Stuart Noell officiating.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens with Military Honors provided by the US Navy Funeral Honors Team.
