Brenda Ramsey Black

Brenda Black, 84, of Gastonia, N.C. went to her heavenly home on December 5, 2024, at 1:45 am. Born on July 25th, 1940. Brenda was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother as well as great-great grandmother, and friend whose sense of humor, love and forgiveness touched the life of all who knew her. 

Brenda was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Gastonia. She was known mostly as Maw, Mother and Nunna. She was an avid bowler; Liberty Lanes was a second home. She had an infectious spirit and the remarkable ability to make any and every one laugh and feel loved.

Brenda is survived by her children, Anna Silva, Tammy Barber, Timbo Black (Shellie), Anthony Black and Carrie Howard (Daniel). Grandkids; Medena Adams (Chris), Anjelic Helton (Jason), Geoffrey Love (Monica), Sarah Wolfe, Kayla Beheler (Tim), Lauren Sisk (Taylor), Noah Black, Ian Black, Blair Black, Victoria Glenn (Mike), Scarlett Black and Mikey. 16 Great grandkids and 5 great-great grandkids. And many nieces and nephews and many friends and added family. Her bonus sons, John Tate and Brian Patterson. We would like to thank Dallas Rescue for all they did and a special thank you to Elizabeth Isler (Messer), who became a part of the family.

Proceeded in death by her grandparents, Edgar and Rosa Ramsey, Roy and Annie Hamilton. Parents Grover and Lucille Ramsey; two brothers, Gerald Ramsey, Sr., and Robert (Butch) Ramsey and son, Joey Black. Brenda is also proceeded in death by her husband of 64 years Joe Felix Black, Jr. Brenda will forever be remembered for her wittiness, her big heart full of love, and her smile.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Monday December 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor David MacEachern officiating. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum C. Pallbearers will be Jason Helton, Ian Black, Noah Black, Loyd Lunsford, Tim Beheler and Elijah Ethridge. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Tate and Brian Patterson.
