Boyd Lee Deyton (Deaton), 79, of Woodlawn Haven went to be with our Lord on August 31, 2009. He was a native of Smyre, the son of the late Geter Pritchard and Linda Belle Deyton, and the grandson of the late Baxter Curtis and Polly Bailey Deyton.
Boyd was a member of Lowell FreeWill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and a Church Bus Driver, and served in the Korea War . Boyd retired from Groves Mill as a Section Supervisor
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alma Houser Deyton, a brother, Joe Deyton and sisters, Hazel Booton, Zelma Hendrixs and
Zadie Deyton
Survivors include his son, Gary Deaton and wife Fonda L.
Daughter, Cecelia Myers and husband Dennis Kuykendall
Grandchildren: Jeffrey Faris and wife Jennifer H.;
Starla R Smith and Ashley R Myers
Great Grandchildren: Shianna D Gunter, Layla A Myers,
Matthew T Faris and Emily M Faris
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 4, in the Chapel at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home, with the Rev. J.R. Robbins officiating, military honors will be rendered by the WWII Last Mans Club.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at
other times at the home of the daughter, 527 Besstown Road, Bessemer City, NC
