Forest City - Bobby Amos Hatcher, 78, formerly of Gastonia, passed away at his home in Forest City on Sunday, February 11, 2018. He was born in Asheville and was the son of the late Robert Amos and Jennie Woody Hatcher.

Mr. Hatcher was a former member of Midway Baptist Church and Modena Street Baptist Church, Gastonia where he had served as Deacon. While a member of Midway Baptist Church, he went on a mission trip to Brazil where they helped build a church. He is a member of Harris Baptist Church, Harris, North Carolina.

Mr. Hatcher is survived by his wife of five years, Juanita Cantrell Hatcher; one son, Joel David Hatcher of Forest City; two daughters, Carol Gamble, Jane Braden of Gastonia; one step-son, Randy Henson of Forest City; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15th at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Rev. George Whitmire officiating.

Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.

Mr. Hatcher was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Brenda Jimison Hatcher; two sons, Bobby Amos Hatcher, Jr., John Gordon Hatcher; two brothers, Earl Hatcher, Leon Hatcher.

Memorials are requested to be made to Harris Baptist Church, P.O. Box 182, Harris, North Carolina 28074.
