Gastonia – Bobbie Sue Becton Merritt, 74 passed away peacefully on July 9, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Pender County, NC on January 17, 1943 to the late Robert Becton and Kathleen Merritt Becton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Merritt, and a son Robert Merritt and her brothers, Ray, Joel and Ronnie. She owned Bobbie's Coiffures and the Doll Cradle. She made and sold porcelain and ceramic dolls at her store. She enjoyed quilting, painting and classic music.
Left to cherish her memories includes her children, Michael Merritt (Crystal), Sharon Ledford, Carol Huffman (Scott); longtime friend, Quincy Huitt; grandchildren, Jonathan, Mark, Andrew, Nicholas, William, Sarah, Olivia, Jordan, Scarlette, Job, Ryan, Lucas, and Christina; six great grandchildren; her brother, Frank Becton (Wanda).
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m., prior to A Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Merritt and Reverend Scott Huffman officiating.
