"Bob" Robert Clifton Eldridge
July 7, 1934 — January 2, 2019
Gastonia - Robert "Bob" Clifton Eldridge, 84, entered into Heaven on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born in Gastonia and was the son of the late Buford and Ruby Hill Eldridge.
Bob was a longtime member of Victory Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Treasurer. He was a member of King Solomon Masonic Lodge #704 and loved to play golf at the Old Gastonia City Golf Course. He was an accomplished Wood Craftsman and enjoyed making violins. He loved going to Darlington and Daytona NASCAR events and was a "Die Hard" Bobby Allison fan. He retired from Duff-Norton Company as a machinist.
Bob leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 62 years, Otelia Shepherd Eldridge; daughter, Annette Simmons and husband Joel of Bessemer City; two sons, Bobby Eldridge and wife Lynne of Cherokee, Jeff Eldridge and wife Gina of Gulf Breeze, Florida; one sister, Gail Broughton and husband Gray of Richmond, Virginia; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Victory Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Sam Mintz officiating.
Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in the Mausoleum of Peace with Military Honors by the North Carolina National Guard.
Memorials are requested to be made to Victory Baptist Church, 1101 Lynhaven Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28052.
