Gastonia - Billie Jean Whittlesey, 85 of 2822 Ridgehaven Court, Gastonia, passed away May 1, 2013 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center Gastonia.
She was a native of Ashe County, NC, born July 25, 1927, daughter of the late John Edward and Myrtle Winebarger Graybeal. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Franklin Jackson Mott, Jr.; her second husband John Vincent Whittlesey; a brother Fred Graybeal, sisters, Chloe Harwell, Iva Lea Gallagher, Trudy Blevins, June Hanna and Viva Loyd Blake. Billie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed fishing, writing, painting and working in her rose garden.. Billie and her husband John restored a pre- civil war house, where they were married and had an antique shop. Her birth home in Ashe County was across from the New River which was always in her heart. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church

She is survived by her children, Jackson Mott, III of Gastonia,
Jeanne Mott of Gastonia and Linda Mott of Texas;
grandchildren, Elyse Drum (Todd), Arielle McMurry (Patrick), Rosalind Swinney, Frank Mott (Julie) and Susan Taul (Clint);
and seven great grandchildren; multiple's nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, May 5 at Evergreen A Quiet Place Cemetery with Reverend Ronnie Bowers officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 Sunday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and other times at her daughters, 4375Timberwood Dr., Gastonia.
