Gastonia – Francis William "Bill" Griffin 75, passed away on January 1, 2019 at his residence. He was born September 30, 1943 to the late George William Griffin, Sr. and Rebecca Inez Lanning Griffin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah Curd Griffin, brothers, James, Fred, Willie and Tommy Griffin; sister, Barbara Griffin.
He was a veteran of the US Army. Bill was a member of the Sandy Plains Baptist Church and enjoyed working with the Baptist Men on Mission for many years. Bill retired from Bell South after 33 years of service.
Bill is survived by his sons, David Griffin (Julianne); Joseph Griffin (Kristy); grandchildren, Shanna, Gabriella, Jacob and Kylee; brother, George William Griffin, Jr. (Connie); sisters, Betty Jean Johnson and Georgia Ann Keith.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5th at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Saturday with Reverend David Keuss and Reverend Richard Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Gaston County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be the Baptist Men on Mission.
