Dallas - William Bartley "Bill" Brewer, 90, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2015 at Brian Center.

He was born in Gaston County, NC on August 28, 1925 to the late James Ellis and Ellen Victoria Auten Brewer.

Mr. Brewer was a former employee of Akers Motor Lines, Carolina Freight and Western Auto. He was a former member of Rankin Lake Baptist Church, Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church and a current member of Hardin Community Baptist Church.

Mr. Brewer loved to drive fast, play golf and spend time with his "golf buddies" every day until he could no longer meet with them. He loved people, talking, joking and helping people all of his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Helen Smart Brewer; his sons, Calvin and Darrell Brewer; sisters Addie Ballard, Virginia Paysour, Bright Hurst, Lula Summey, Hazel Black, Mary Weathers; brothers, J.D., Paul, Adrian, Jack Brewer

Left to cherish his memories include one son, Larry Brewer and wife Sue of Dallas; grandsons, Kenneth Brewer and wife Jessica, Todd Brewer and wife Sherry; Michael Brewer and wife Katie; great grandchildren, Emily, Annabell, Daniel, Brayden, Eden, Evelyn; Sisters, Betty Woody, Mollie Spivey; brothers Ben Brewer; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m.to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Randy Summey officiating.

Interment will follow at Long Creek Memorial Cemetery, Dallas.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
