Beverly Irene Thompson

Mount Holly– Beverly Irene Thompson, 74, passed away on May 15, 2023 with her loving family by her side.

Beverly was born in LaFayette, Georgia on January 17, 1949 to the late Carl Lee Decker and Mary Carter Decker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bob, Lee, and Jim Decker; and her sister, Martha Decker.

Beverly retired after working many years as a supervisor in textiles. She was a member of Westview Presbyterian Church in Mount Holly. Beverly loved to host her family and loved cooking and making Christmas cookies with her children and the entire family. She also enjoyed playing cards and held a lifetime fishing license. Beverly leaves many happy memories to be cherished by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff Thompson (Jenn) and Alan Thompson (Merlein); brothers, Timmy and Elton Decker; sister, Elizabeth “Bubba” Galloway; grandchildren, Julia Crow (Parker), Duncan Thompson, Victoria Thompson, Sophia Thompson, and Logan Thompson; great-grandson, Elliott Sanders; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Dale Lawing officiating.

Following the service, the family and friends will gather at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom drive, Charlotte, NC, for the interment at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Westview Presbyterian Church in Mount Holly.
