BETTY WILLIS
1926-2016
Dallas –Betty Faye Hovis Willis, 89, passed away on January 12, 2016 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
Betty was born in Gaston County on May 17, 1926 to the late Pervie A. and Gaither Friday Hovis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, William M. Willis;
brothers, Jack and Paul Hovis; and sister, Carolyn Abernathy
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that will be greatly missed. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dallas where she was very active for many years. Betty was a member of the United Methodist Women and Dallas Garden Club for many years. She loved spending time with her family, friends and her church family and traveling.
Survivors include her children Vickie W. Boyd (Neil); Jimmy Willis (Peggy); Angie W. McDuffie (David) and Kelly W. Canipe (David);
grandchildren; Dr. Tony Atkins, Lori Shaw (Jim); James Willis, Jr., Stephanie Costner, Jennie M. Smith (Dustin), Patrick McDuffie, Will and Madeline Canipe; great grandchildren; Drew, Libby, Sam Shaw; Hayleigh, Devan and Ethan Costner
brother, Charles "Bob" Hovis of Lancaster, SC and a sister Nancy Cox.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 14th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, January 15th at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 301 West Main Street, Dallas, NC with Reverend Caroll Flack and Reverend Cliff Wall officiating.
Burial will follow in Westview Gardens with the releasing of the doves.
