Betty Turner
1935-2022
York, SC - Betty Black Turner, 86, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2022, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill, South Carolina with her loving family by her side. Betty was born in Hardin, North Carolina on April 29, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Franklin and Dollie Bumgarner Black.
Betty was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a stay at home "Mom" and loved every minute of it and also loved all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her children and enjoyed playing the piano, Betty was pianist for High Shoals Church of God at age 12 and was Sunday School Secretary at 15 years of age. She will truly be missed by so many.
In 2007, Betty and David were awarded "Faithfulness and Soul Winning Award" at Ranlo Church of God.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, David Turner; one son, David Earl Turner and wife Roxane; two daughters, Jean Harvell and Sandra Hayes; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great, great grandchildren.
The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Yorkwood Church of God, 405 Stagecoach Road, Gastonia with A Celebration of Life Service to be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Yorkwood Church of God with Pastor Jeremy Beggs and Rev. Carl Overton officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Judy Ghorley; grandson, Michael Moody; two sons-in-laws, Mike Harvell and Richard Hayes; one brother, Marion Black; three sisters, Ruby Black, Colleen Rayfield and Gladys Aycoth.
